Gabby Hancher (they, them)
MA, Professional Counseling Associate

Hi! My name is Gabby (they/them) and I’m a nonbinary registered counselor associate in Portland Oregon who has lived experience with chronic illness. I help folks come home to themselves through therapy that is holistic, compassionate, and depth oriented.
I support queer and trans adults in reconnecting to their bodies and inner worlds through mindfully-led experiential work.
At this time, I am best suited for clients who are able to meet most of their basic needs and can commit to weekly, outpatient therapy. If you are experiencing severe and persistent mental health challenges, frequent crisis, or are actively navigating suicidal thoughts, I would recommend team-based or specialized care centered around crisis stabilization.
Some of the themes I work with include adult parentified children or family of origin, trauma, neurodivergence, caregiving, people pleasing, chronic pain, grief, gender identity, and relational challenges. Many folks who come to me may seem “fine” on the outside, but are actually drowning internally or have longstanding patterns which they can describe perfectly, but struggle to shift.
My style of therapy is compassionate, playful, and lovingly sassy. Sessions are unstructured and typically guided by the wisdom of what is currently alive for you! I operate under the belief that your mind and body have developed unique and intelligent ways to survive while also exploring new ways of being without judgment.
The main modalities I draw on include Hakomi, R-CS, attachment-informed therapy, somatic therapy, mindfulness practices, and parts work/IFS-informed therapy. Much of my work is experiential in nature meaning we are paying attention to what is happening in the present moment in service to uncovering the subtleties of your system which can promote greater internal ease and freedom of choice in your everyday life. I approach all sessions through a culturally-aware systemic lens and believe deeply that when we transform on an interpersonal level, social change ripples outwards.
