Professional Counselor Associate
Hi, I'm Magnolia Medlin (she/her), a Professional Counselor Associate based in Portland, Oregon. I work with adults and young adults, couples, and families to discover the meaningfulness and creativity latent within challenging life disturbances and dynamics.
I support folks navigating anxiety, depression, life transitions, relationship challenges, and questions of spiritual identity and meaning.
Many of the clients I work with are reflective, insightful people who have spent a lot of time trying to understand themselves intellectually but want support integrating their emotional, relational, and embodied experiences. I bring a strong flavor of present moment mindfulness to sessions.
My style is warm, collaborative, and curious, and I aim to create a space where all parts of you are welcome—including the ones that feel critical, protective, overwhelmed, or uncertain. My work draws from somatic and experiential approaches, including parts work, Somatic Experiencing, and Process-Oriented Psychology (Processwork), which help clients develop greater self-awareness, compassion, and flexibility in how they meet the challenges in their lives.
I hold a Master's degree in Counseling and I am trained in Voice Dialogue Parts Work, have studied Somatic Experiencing, and am currently continuing my training in Process-Oriented Psychology through the Process Work Institute. I also lived and studied for two years at Great Vow Zen Monastery, and I have studied Wilderness Rites of Passage with the School of Lost Borders.
I am the cofounder of Wild Rivers Collective, a creative mentorship program for the young feminine navigating the thresholds of adolescence.
Outside of therapy, I love storytelling, music, and time in nature, and I'm continually inspired by the ways people discover meaning and transformation through their inner lives.
